Roberta Maxwell

Roberta Maxwell (born 1942 in Ontario ) is a Canadian actress .

Life and accomplishments

Maxwell made his debut in a speaking role on the television series Just Mary in 1960 . In the film drama A Great Big Thing (1968) she already played one of the bigger roles. In the late 1960s and 1970s she starred in numerous plays. In the comedy Not by Bad Parents she starred alongside Trini Alvarado , John Lithgow and Olympia Dukakis ; in the musical comedy Popeye - The Sailor with the Hard Knock she appeared on the side of Robin Williams . She played a bigger role alongside Anthony Perkins , Diana Scarwid and Jeff Fahey in the psychological thriller Psycho III from 1986.

In the film drama Philadelphia by Jonathan Demme , the two Oscars won, Maxwell played a judge. Her role in the SF drama Last Night earned her a 1999 Genie Award nomination . As a leading actress in the Canadian television drama Scar Tissue , she was nominated for the 2003 Gemini Award . She played the mother of Jack Twist ( Jake Gyllenhaal ) in the three Academy Award-winning drama Brokeback Mountain .
