Daniel Castelo Podence (born October 21, 1995 in Oeiras ) is a Portuguese football player on the position of left midfielder . He is currently under contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers .
Career
society
Daniel Podence started playing football in the youth of the Portuguese first division club Belenenses Lisbon at the age of eight. At the age of 10 he moved to the neighboring club Sporting Lisbon , for which he played in the respective youth teams until 2014. He made his debut in the men's field for the second team of the capital club in the second Portuguese division . For the reserve team, Podence played in a total of 79 league games between 2013 and 2016, in which he scored nine goals. He stayed with the first team until 2018, but only made 25 appearances in the Primeira Liga in four years .
In the meantime, he was awarded a season to the league rivals Moreirense FC . He scored four goals in 14 games for the club in the 2016/17 season before returning to Sporting.
In the summer of 2018, Podence moved to the Greek record champions Olympiacos Piraeus in the Super League . There he signed a contract until 2022. The first season with Piraeus ended with the runner-up title behind PAOK Thessaloniki . With the club he also took part in the Europa League . There he played 12 games in which he scored one goal, and in the end of the round of 32, Dynamo Kiev lost 3-2. Due to the runner-up title in 2019, the team had to go to the playoffs to qualify for the 2019/20 Champions League . After victories against Viktoria Pilsen , Istanbul Başakşehir FK and FK Krasnodar , they qualified for the group stage. There Olympiakos met Tottenham Hotspur in the opening game of Group B , which ended with a 2-2. With his first Champions League goal, Podence made the intermittent 1: 2 connection goal.
On January 30, 2020, Podence moved to English Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers under a four and a half year contract for a transfer fee of 16.9 million pounds .
National team
Podence went through the youth teams of the national team of Portugal . So far, he has not been considered for the senior national team.
