Diogo Jota (born December 4, 1996 in Massarelos ; real name Diogo José Teixeira da Silva ) is a Portuguese football player . The attacking midfielder is under contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers and is a senior international .

Career

societies

Diogo Jota moved in 2013 from Gondomar SC to the youth department of FC Paços de Ferreira . There he was used for the first team in the Primeira Liga from the 2014/15 season . In the 2015/16 season he developed into a regular player and scored 12 goals in 31 appearances in the league.

For the 2016/17 season , Diogo Jota moved to Atlético Madrid in the Spanish Primera División and signed a five-year contract there. Atlético loaned him straight to FC Porto for a year . There he scored three goals in a 4-0 away win against Nacional Funchal on October 1, 2016 . The 2017/18 season Diogo Jota played on loan with Wolverhampton Wanderers and rose with the team to the Premier League . After the end of the season he was firmly committed.

National team

Diogo Jota played for the Portuguese U19 national team for the first time on November 12, 2014 in the 2-1 win against Wales . In total, he scored five goals in nine appearances. On November 17, 2015, he made his debut in the 3-0 win against Israel in the U21 team . In preparation for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro , Diogo Jota played a game for the U23 national team against Mexico on March 28, 2016 and took the lead in the 4-0 win, but was later not included in the final squad for the tournament called.

On November 14, 2019, Diogo Jota made his debut in the European Championship qualifier against Lithuania as a substitute for the senior national team .
