Conor David Coady (born February 25, 1993 in Haydock , Merseyside ) is an English football player . He comes from the youth work of Liverpool FC and after a loan deal with Sheffield United moved to Huddersfield in 2014 , where he only stayed a year and has now been under contract with the first division club Wolverhampton Wanderers since July 2015 , where he is currently the captain's armband.

In his youth and early his professional career, he played on the position of central midfielder before in the season 2016/17 to full-back was turned. He was pushed into the middle for the 2017/18 season and has played in central defense for the Wanderers ever since .

Coady comes from the Liverpool FC youth academy . In his youth and also in his early club career, he still played in the position of central midfielder . He made his league debut for the Reds on May 12, 2013 in a 3-1 away win against Fulham . That mission should be his only one for Liverpool in the Premier League . In order to collect match practice in professional football, he was loaned to the Football League One club Sheffield United for the following 2013/14 season. He made his debut on August 2, 2013 in a 2-1 home win over Notts County . Coady scored his first goal in English professional football on November 30, 2013 in a 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient . After he was able to play in the starting lineup in December, the Blades extended his loan contract until the end of the season in the winter transfer window. During this season he completed 50 games for the club from South Yorkshire , in which he was able to contribute six hits and four assists.

On August 6, 2014 Conor Coady moved to the second division Huddersfield Town , where he signed a three-year contract. He made his debut on August 9, 2014 in a 4-0 defeat by AFC Bournemouth . He scored his first goal for his new club on October 1 in a 3-1 away win against Wolverhampton Wanderers . In the 2014/15 season he was used for the Terriers in 45 league games in which he scored three goals.

On July 3, 2015, Coady moved to league rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers for a transfer fee of 2.8 million euros. He made his debut on August 8 in a 2-1 away win against Blackburn Rovers . His first goal was only scored in the following season 2016/17 in a 2-1 cup win over Crawley Town . This season he was coach Paul Lambert to the right full-back turned. Until then, Coady had only held the position of central midfielder in his professional career. In this new position he has already played a large part of his 45 competitive games this season.

After the Portuguese coach Nuno Espírito Santo took over the reins of the Wolves for the 2017/18 season , he introduced a new formation in which he relied on three central defenders . Espírito Santo planned this Coady in this position and also promoted him to captain of the team. In September 2017 Coady signed a new working paper that binds him to the association until summer 2021. On April 21, 2018, he scored his first league goal for Wolverhampton with a penalty in a 4-0 away win against Bolton Wanderers . In this game, the Wanderers secured the championship title prematurely, after having previously fixed promotion to the Premier League .

On February 15, 2019, Coady signed another new contract with the Wolves and is now tied to the club until summer 2023.

National team

Coady represented England from 2009 to 2013 in various youth selections from U-16 to U-20 . For the U-17 national team he was in action 17 times. At the U-17 European Football Championship in 2010 , he was the captain of the selection and led his team to the title. With the U-19 , he played in the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in 2012 in Estonia in which his country only in the semifinals to Greece failed. At the U-20 World Cup in 2013 , he was the captain of the English team and scored in the first group game against Iraq .
