The Moreirense Futebol Clube is a Portuguese football club . It was founded in 1938 and is based in Moreira de Cónegos , a municipality near Guimarães . The home stadium is the Estádio Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas and offers 6131 seats. The club colors are green and white, which are arranged in a checkerboard pattern on traditional shirts.
The club's greatest success so far, in addition to promotion to the first division in the 2001/02 season , which was followed by relegation in the 2004/05 season , was winning the Portuguese League Cup in the final of Faro (Estádio Algarve), where the SC Braga defeated 1-0 after knocking out two of the Portuguese Big Three with Benfica Lisbon and FC Porto in the previous round . At the end of the 2011/12 season, the club finished second behind GD Estoril Praia and rose again to the Primeira Liga .
