Svetozar Marković ( Serbian - Cyrillic Светозар Марковић ; born March 23, 2000 in Bijeljina , Bosnia and Herzegovina ) is a Serbian football player who has been under contract with the Greek first division club Olympiacos Piraeus since July 2019 . The central defender has been a Serbian U21 international since September 2018 .

Club career

Partizan Belgrade

Born in Bijeljina , Bosnia and Herzegovina , Marković began playing football at the local club FK Radnik Bijeljina before moving to the youth academy of the Serbian first division club FK Partizan Belgrade in 2011 . For the entire 2015/16 season he played for the Partizans farm team , the FK Teleoptik . After the loan, he was promoted to the first team in the summer of 2017. He made his debut on October 11 in the 3-0 cup win against FK Rtanj Boljevac , when he came on for Bojan Ostojić in the 88th minute . In the league, he played his first game on March 11, 2018, when he played the full game in the 2-0 away win against FK Čukarički . Marković then quickly became a regular in central defense alongside Nemanja R. Miletić . He scored his first goal on matchday 30 of the 2017/18 season in a 5-0 home win against FK Borac Čačak . In May 2018 he was named the best debutant of the season. On May 23, they beat FK Mladost Lučani 2-1 with Marković in the starting line-up in the final of the Serbian Cup .

In the following season 2018/19 he kept his regular place and has already completed 25 league games in which he was able to score a goal. The cup win could be repeated on May 23, 2019 with a 1-0 win against rivals Red Star Belgrade , but it was not taken into account in this game.

Olympiacos Piraeus

On July 8, 2019, it was announced that Svetozar Marković had signed a five-year contract with the Greek first division club Olympiacos Piraeus . The transfer fee for the central defender was 1.5 million euros. After he couldn't secure a regular place at Olympiakos in the first few months, he was loaned to AE Larisa on January 31, 2020 for the remainder of the 2019/20 season. There he made his debut on February 15, 2020 (24th matchday) in the 1: 2 home defeat against PAOK Thessaloniki in the top Greek division. After five league appearances for the club, he returned to Piraeus on July 1, 2020.

National team

Marković represented Serbia in various youth selections starting with the U16 . With the U-17 national team , he took part in the U-17 European Championship 2017 in Croatia .
