Brandon Bochenski (born April 4, 1982 in Blaine , Minnesota ) is a former American ice hockey player with Kazakh citizenship, who played 159 games for the Ottawa Senators , Chicago Blackhawks , Boston Bruins , Anaheim, among others, between 2000 and 2019 Ducks , Nashville Predators and Tampa Bay Lightning in the National Hockey League (NHL) on the position of right winger has denied. Bochenski also spent a large part of his career in the Continental Hockey League (KHL), where he was on the ice over 450 times.
Career
The 1.83 m tall winger first played for the Lincoln Stars from the US junior league USHL after his time at high school . While in college , he was on the ice for the University of North Dakota team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association , a league in the NCAA game operations . In the 2001 NHL Entry Draft , Bochenski was finally selected as 223rd in the seventh round by the Ottawa Senators .
After completing his studies, the right-shooter was used by the Senators due to the lockout in the NHL with the Binghamton Senators , the farm team of the franchise in the American Hockey League . The attacker gained his first NHL experience on October 5, 2005. After his appointment in the squad of the Ottawa Senators Bochenski was in 20 games in the highest North American professional league on the ice, his first goal he scored on October 15 against the Boston Bruins . In March 2006, the American was transferred to the Chicago Blackhawks , where he spent the rest of the season. However, Bochenski did not manage to assert himself permanently in Chicago. After he had been used most of the time with the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL, Bochenski was transferred to the Boston Bruins on February 7, 2007 in exchange for Kris Versteeg and a draft pick.
There the striker signed a one-year contract, but in the same season he was transferred to the Anaheim Ducks , which in turn handed him over to the Nashville Predators just a few weeks later . The franchise from Tennessee Bochenski was mostly the Farm Team Norfolk Admirals used in the AHL. In 2010 he moved to Barys Astana from the KHL and was one of the best scorers not only within the team but also across the league for the next seven years. In May 2017, despite an existing contract from Barys, he interrupted his career to have more time for his family. He left the KHL as the best foreigner in the young league history with 397 points from 399 KHL games. In 2018 he returned to Barys for a year.
International
During his time at Bary Astana, Bochenski was naturalized to Kazakhstan and thus also eligible to play for the Kazakh national ice hockey team. For his new home he played for the first time at the 2016 World Cup in the top division, but when the class could not be held. He then played in Division I in 2017 , when he was the third best scorer behind his compatriot Nigel Dawes and the Austrian Konstantin Komarek and together with Komarek was the second best preparer behind his compatriot Martin Schumnig . He also represented Kazakhstan in the Olympic qualification for the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang .
