Astrit Ajdarević (born April 17, 1990 , Pristina , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Kosovar - Swedish football player . The midfielder is the son of former Yugoslav professional footballer Agim Ajdarević .

Career

Early years

In the summer of 1992, Ajdarević's family spent their vacation in Sweden. Because of the outbreak of the wars in Yugoslavia , the father who was under contract with FK Spartak Subotica did not want to return to his homeland. After the father initially couldn't find a club in Sweden due to excessive transfer demands and had to earn his living with odd jobs, he was ultimately committed by Falkenbergs FF and was able to stay in Sweden and continue his career there.

Astrit Ajdarević started playing football at Rinia IF in Sweden . At the age of four he was already playing with the two years older boy. He later moved to the youth department of his father's club, FFF. There he went through the youth teams and was also appointed to the Swedish junior national teams. In August 2005 he ran in the first selection game of the 1990s in the U15 on the side of later Swedish first division players such as Simon Helg or Jesper Florén , which ended with a 3-0 win.

In the 2006 season Ajdarević moved up to the men's team playing in the Superettan and wavered between bench and grandstand. On July 10th of the year he made his debut in the second highest Swedish league when he was substituted on for Björn Carlsson in the 89th minute of the 3-0 win over GIF Sundsvall . As a result, however, he was not able to establish himself permanently in the squad and was never one of the 16 players in the squad for a long time. He only played his second game in FFF's jersey at the end of August, when he was substituted on again in the closing stages of the 3-2 defeat by Åtvidabergs FF and played for ten minutes alongside players like Stefan Rodevåg or David Elm . Once again, the midfielder failed to establish himself in the squad. Only in the last three games of the season he was given time as a substitute in consecutive games.

Move to England

In December 2006, Ajdarević completed a trial session at the top English club Liverpool FC . The following January, the junior player's engagement was announced. Moving abroad at a young age sparked some discussion in Sweden about how to promote young players.

After a lack of fitness at the beginning of his stay in England, Ajdarević was able to slowly play his way into the youth team. In the summer, the player compared to Patrik Berger because of his appearance and his style of play reached the finals of the FA Youth Cup with the team . After being sent off in the semi-finals of the competition, he missed the first final against the Manchester United youngsters . In the second leg he was able to participate again and after a successful penalty shoot-out cheered the victory of the trophy. Nevertheless, he could not prevail at Liverpool FC. Although he coached at times in the club's reserve team, the club mainly thought about further missions in the U-18 team, where he should be one of the three older players allowed. Therefore, the young player looked around for new clubs and took part in trial training at NEC Nijmegen and VfB Stuttgart .

After Ajdarević had not been promoted to the men's team of Liverpool FC for another nine months, the club decided in late March 2009 to loan him to Leicester City in Football League One until the end of the season . A week after the loan deal was announced, he made his debut in English professional football as a substitute in a 2-2 draw with Carlisle United on April 4 . By the end of the season he was a substitute five times and contributed to the club's promotion to the top of the table in the Football League Championship . At the end of the season, the club signaled an interest in continued employment and agreed a one-year contract with the player. In the following season, however, he only had the role of substitute. In March 2010, the club loaned him to Hereford United in the fourth-rate Football League Two , but where he came to the end of the season only for a short period as a substitute.

Return to Sweden

After his contract with Leicester City expired, Ajdarević left England in the summer of 2010. After briefly training with Allsvenskan club Örebro SK , the club signed him in early July when he signed a three and a half year agreement. In his league debut on July 18 against IF Elfsborg , he distinguished himself in the 3-3 draw after being substituted on as a goalscorer when he scored the equalizer in stoppage time. With five goals this season by the end of the season, he was instrumental in one of the most successful seasons of the club, which ended the season as third in the table.

After the success, Ajdarević was a sought-after player and Örebro SK could not agree on a further cooperation with him. Therefore, he left the club and joined the first division promoted IFK Norrköping with a four-year contract . There he recommended himself for the Swedish U-21 selection , for which he made his debut in the summer. Then an integral part of the selection team, he received the class with his club at the end of the season and led the team around Mathias Florén , Shpetim Hasani and Gunnar Heiðar Þorvaldsson in the first half of the 2012 season in the front midfield of the table.

Another move abroad

In early July 2012, the Belgian first division club announced the commitment of Ajdarević, who signed a contract for four seasons with the club from the first division . Under coach Ron Jans he was an immediate regular at the side of Laurent Ciman , Jelle Van Damme and Luis Manuel Seijas . At the same time, he reached the play-off games for qualifying for the U-21 European Championship 2013 with the U-21 selection in autumn , where he played a decisive role in the group victory in the final group game against Ukraine with one goal and one assist. Due to an injury, he missed the playoffs against the Italian youth team , in which the team missed the final round due to two defeats.
