Laurent Ciman (born August 5, 1985 in Farciennes ) is a Belgian football player .
Ciman is used as a defender , mainly in central defense .
Career
society
In 2004, Ciman moved from the youth team to the professional team at Sporting Charleroi . He made his debut in the Jupiler Pro League , the first division in Belgium, on October 30, 2004, the 11th matchday. In the 1-0 victory over KV Oostende , he came on in the 82nd minute for Abdelmajid Oulmers . In 2008 he moved to Club Bruges.
After only a few missions and a loan to KV Kortrijk , Ciman moved to Standard Liège for the 2010/11 season . With his new club he won the Belgian Football Cup in the first season . Ciman stayed with Standard Liège until the winter break of the 2014/15 season , scoring five goals in 122 league games.
At the beginning of the 2015 season, Ciman moved to the North American Major League Soccer for the Canadian franchise Montreal Impact .
National team
Ciman played from 2004 to 2008 in the Belgian U-21 , with whom he took part in the U-21 European Football Championship in 2007 in the Netherlands . Here Belgium reached the semi-finals. In 2008 Ciman was part of the Belgian squad for the Olympic football tournament during the 2008 Summer Olympics , in which he was used in the game against the selection of Nigeria . In this game, which the Nigerian team won 4-1, Ciman scored the goal for the Belgians.
He made his debut for the senior national team on May 19, 2010. In the 2-1 win over Bulgaria , he came on in the 66th minute for Toby Alderweireld . Ciman was in the Belgian squad at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil , but was not used.
At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Belgian squad. In the first game against Italy he was in the starting line-up, but after the 2-0 defeat he was not used until the team was eliminated in the quarter-finals.
