The Los Angeles Football Club , in short Los Angeles FC or just LAFC , is a franchise of professional football - League Major League Soccer (MLS). It was founded in 2014 and has been participating in MLS games since the 2018 season.
The franchise took over the license of the dissolved MLS franchise CD Chivas USA .
Stadion
The owner group announced the construction of a new football stadium called Banc of California Stadium in the Los Angeles area, which can hold 22,000 spectators. In May 2015 the plans for the construction were published. The stadium was built for 350 million US dollars on the property of the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena . Construction work began on August 23, 2016. The opening was celebrated on April 18, 2018.

The entrepreneur Peter Gruber acts as the managing chairman. He is also the co-owner of the NBA franchise Golden State Warriors and the MLB franchise Los Angeles Dodgers . Former NBA official Tom Penn is president of the club. Henry Nguyen supports the two as vice chairman and is also one of the main donors of the franchise. Larry Berg, Brandon Beck and Bennett Rosenthal act as "Managing Owners". The Malaysian businessmen Ruben Gnanalingam and Vincent Tan are also represented in the owner group and bear the title of "Director".
There are also 19 other owners or investors. Here are the former basketball player Magic Johnson , the former baseball player Nomar Garciaparra and his wife, the former national soccer player Mia Hamm , as well as Chad Hurley (co-founder of YouTube ), Will Ferrell (actor) and Anthony Robbins (author and NLP coach) as Active sponsors.
Youth and player development
On February 1, 2016, the LAFC Academy was founded as a youth and development facility for the franchise. At the start, a U-12 team consisting of 26 players will play in the US Soccer Development Academy leagues.
First season 2018
The club played the first MLS game in the history of the LAFC away from the Seattle Sounders , where they won 1-0 in front of almost 40,000 spectators. The winning goal scorer and the first competitive goal for LAFC was scored by 20-year-old Uruguayan Diego Rossi . The second game of the season was played away at Real Salt Lake City , where they won 5-1.

In December 2015, the former US international John Thorrington was presented as the person responsible for all sporting matters.
On March 23, 2017, Carlos Alvarez was signed as the first player in the franchise. This is loaned to Orange County SC until the start of the league . In April 2017, the Nigerian Monday Etim was signed. This is also on loan to Orange County SC. In August 2017, the Mexican national player Carlos Vela was signed as the most prominent player to date. He will move from Real Sociedad to LAFC on January 1, 2018 .
On July 27, 2017, Bob Bradley was introduced as the franchise's first coach.

Fan scene
Even before the club took part in the league, there was a wide fan scene. Since it was founded, there have been two fan clubs, the " District 9 Ultras " and the " Black Army 1850 ", which had already supported the predecessor CD Chivas USA . More fan clubs soon formed.
