Andy Ariel Najar Rodríguez (born March 16, 1993 in Choluteca , Departamentos Choluteca ) is a Honduran football player . He will play for Los Angeles FC in the USA from July 2020 .

Career

Najar came at the age of 13 years in the United States and attended in Alexandria the Thomas A. Edison High School . In 2008 he joined the DC United Youth Academy . There he received numerous awards and honors for his achievements.

On March 11, 2010, he left high school and was only the second player at the academy to get a professional contract with DC United as part of the Adidas generation . In the league, he made his debut on March 28 in the opening game of Major League Soccer 2010 against the Kansas City Wizards , which was lost 4-0. On April 28, he scored his first professional goal against FC Dallas as part of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup . Najar was named MLS Rookie of the Year 2010 ahead of Tim Ream of the New York Red Bulls and Danny Mwanga of the Philadelphia Union .

On November 27, he began a one-week trial at Tottenham Hotspur to keep himself fit for the 2012 Major League Soccer, which begins in the spring .

On January 7, 2013, he was for a month to Europe in the Belgian Pro League at the RSC Anderlecht awarded. At the end of January, the RSC signed a firm commitment to Najar. In his first season he won the 2012/13 championship with Anderlecht , but was not used during the season. Najar had the option of playing for the US national team or for the Honduran national team. On April 6, 2011 he announced that he would play for Honduras if he was nominated.

On September 3, 2011, he made his debut for Honduras in a friendly against Colombia . With the Honduran U-23 national team, he took part in the 2012 Olympic Games in London . Najar was also appointed to the squad of the Honduran senior team for the 2013 Gold Cup , where he scored the only goal of the game in the quarter-finals against Costa Rica (final 1-0).

In 2014 he was appointed by then coach Luis Fernando Suárez in the selection squad for the 2014 World Cup , where he played against France (final score 0: 3) and Switzerland (final score 0: 3).
