The Miami Fusion FC was a franchise of professional football - League Major League Soccer (MLS) from Fort Lauderdale , Florida . The team played in Major League Soccer (MLS) between 1998 and 2001.
history
The franchise was inducted into the MLS along with Chicago Fire in 1998. In the first two seasons they reached the playoffs , but were eliminated in the quarterfinals against DC United . In 2000 they missed the playoffs, but reached the final of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup . A year later, the Fusion was the team with the highest points in the regular season and won the MLS Supporters' Shield . In the semifinals you failed at the San José Earthquakes . For financial reasons they then withdrew from the league.
Stadion
The home games were played at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The 20,450-seat stadium was home to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League from 1977 to 1983 . Then played from 1988 to 1994 another team named Fort Lauderdale Strikers in the stadium. The team played in what was then the American Professional Soccer League.
