Walker Zimmerman (born May 19, 1993 in Lawrenceville , Georgia ) is an American football player who is mostly used as a defender .
Career
Youth and amateur football
Walker Zimmerman played his entire youth at GSA Phoenix. During his studies at Furman University he played for his university team, the Furman Paladins . Zimmerman was named to the First-Team All-Southern Conference in his freshman year of college and won the Freshman of the Year award .
Club career
Zimmerman was chosen as the seventh pick in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft by FC Dallas . He then received a professional contract with FC Dallas. He made his competitive debut on May 11, 2013 in a 2-1 win over DC United .
