Athlitikos Omilos Kerkyra is a Greek football club from Kerkyra , which plays in the second Greek league, the Football League .
history
The clubs Helespontos (founded in 1923), Aris Kerkyras (1924) and Asteras Kerkyras (1926), which were founded on Corfu in the 1920s, dominated the island's football championship, but were unable to celebrate any major successes across the whole of Greece. Therefore, those responsible decided in the 1960s to get together and establish a large association on the island. Therefore, the association was founded in 1967 as an association.
Initially, the club only played in sub-leagues, but since the club was taken over by Spyros Kalogiannis in 1999 , there has been a rapid rise, advancing three times in four years. In 2004 he was promoted to the Alpha Ethniki for the first time , but was immediately relegated. Although in 2006 the promotion to the Greek House of Lords succeeded, but after the end of the season Kerkyra rose again to the second Greek division . Between 2010 and 2013 AO Kerkyra played for three years in the top Greek league, but was then back to the elevator team.
In the 2014/15 season, the club was declared a relegated team because of transfer violations, but was able to make it back to the top and has been back in the Greek House of Lords since the 2016/17 season. After relegation in 2018, the club will play in the second division again in the 2018/19 season.
