Manuel Jiménez Jiménez (born January 26, 1964 in El Arahal , Seville ) is a Spanish football coach . He is the trainer of al-Wahda from Abu Dhabi . Before that, he had coached Sevilla FC , where he had spent almost his entire playing career, al-Rayyan SC , UD Las Palmas and several times AEK Athens .
Player career
Sevilla FC
Manolo Jiménez is closely associated with Sevilla FC . From 1983 to 1997 he played for the Andalusians for 14 years. In total, he played in 344 league games, 44 Copa del Rey games and four UEFA Cup games for Seville . During his time at Sevilla he was also called up to the Spanish national team.
National team
Manolo Jiménez played 15 games for Spain. He played two of these games at the 1990 World Cup in Italy .
Coaching career
From summer 2000 to September 2007 Manolo Jiménez coached the 2nd team of Sevilla FC . He was able to lead Sevilla Atlético from the Tercera División , the 4th Spanish division, to the Segunda División (2nd division). Manolo Jiménez coached Sevilla FC from September 2007 to March 2010 after Juande Ramos left for Tottenham Hotspur .
In October 2010 he signed a two-year contract with the Greek club AEK Athens . In Athens , Manuel Jiménez Jiménez remained a coach for a good year and won the Greek Football Cup with the capital city club in the 2010/11 season, which meant the first cup win and the second title of his coaching career. In the league, Jiménez 'team finished third behind champions Olympiacos Piraeus and Panathinaikos Athens after all match days . AEK Athens started the 2011/12 season with Manuel Jiménez Jiménez as coach. On October 5, 2011, the club separated from its coach after differences between Jiménez and the club's management.
