Jonas Omlin (born January 10, 1994 in Sarnen ) is a Swiss football goalkeeper . He is under contract with HSC Montpellier and has been part of the Swiss national football team since November 2018 .

Career

society

The son of a doctor's assistant and a painter , who grew up in Sachseln in the canton of Obwalden , spent his junior years at FC Sarnen, FC Luzern and SC Kriens. In July 2012 he moved to SC Kriens in the first division promotion for two years . In July 2014 he returned to FC Luzern in the Super League . He made his debut on March 21, 2015 in a home game against FC Basel . In the 2014/15 season he was mainly used for the U21 team of FC Luzern in the 1st division .

On July 6, 2015, Omlin was loaned to FC Le Mont-sur-Lausanne for a season until the end of June 2016 in the Challenge League . In the summer of 2016 he returned to FC Luzern. In March 2017 he became a regular goalkeeper there and ousted David Zibung from this position. His contract ran until the end of June 2021.

On June 12, 2018, the league competitor FC Basel signed Omlin for the new 2018/19 season . He signed a four-year contract. He won the 2018/19 Swiss Cup with FC Basel and played 59 league games.

Omlin switched to French Ligue 1 for HSC Montpellier on August 12, 2020 .

National team

Omlin has been part of the Swiss national football team since November 9, 2018 , but has not yet been used.

Private

Jonas Omlin is in a relationship with Janice, the daughter of the Dutch ex-professional footballer and today's football coach René van Eck .
