Career

Hilton started his professional career at Chapecoense in 1996 . From the Paraná Clube , the central defender moved to Servette FC Genève in Europe in 2002 . Two years later he moved to RC Lens , where he became a regular player and was active for four years. In 2008, Hilton was signed by Olympique Marseille . In his first season he became a regular there too. In 2009/10 he won the French championship with Marseille. However, various stubborn injuries meant that Hilton could barely play games in the championship season.

After Hilton was injured in only a few games in 2010/11, Marseille let him move to Montpellier HSC . In the 2011/12 season, Hilton won his second French championship title with Montpellier and was used in almost every game. The 34-year-old and the twelve years younger Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa formed the center of the defense with the fewest goals conceded in the league.
