Daniel Congré (born April 5, 1985 in Toulouse ) is a French football player of Guadeloupian descent. He can be used flexibly in defense and is one of the most active players with the most appearances in Ligue 1 .

Career

Club career

Born in Toulouse, France, Congré joined his hometown club, FC Toulouse , in the summer of 1996 at the age of eleven and first played for the youth team. He rose quickly and finally made his professional debut in a league game against Stade Rennes as a substitute in the 2004/05 season . He stayed in the senior team for the remainder of the season and played a total of 23 games that season. His availability for the next two seasons was severely limited, mainly due to a broken left foot in a match against RC Lens on March 20, 2006. The injury forced him not only to miss the remainder of the 2005-06 season, but also the start of the 2006/07 season in which Toulouse qualified for the UEFA Champions League qualifying round.

Congré sustained further injuries in the 2007-08 season . A shoulder injury forced him to miss the Champions League third-round qualifiers against Liverpool , where Toulouse were eliminated 5-0 over two games. He later returned but sustained another injury and was out for the remainder of the season. He only appeared in 42 league games in those three years. He returned to the 2008/09 season, played in 29 league games and scored a goal against Le Havre AC , which contributed to fifth place in the final placement of Toulouse FC.

At the beginning of the 2012/13 season, Congré moved to league competitor HSC Montpellier for an estimated fee of 5 million euros. He made his debut for the club on August 10, 2012 in Ligue 1, in a game against his exclusive club Toulouse FC. He made his debut with Montpellier in the Champions League that same year.

National team

Congré played seven games for the French U-21 national team . In 2009 he was appointed to the provisional squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup , but was not in the final selection. He has not yet played a game for the French national football team .
