Souleymane Camara (born December 22, 1982 in Dakar ) is a Senegalese football player .

Career

society

2001 Camara moved from the B team of AS Monaco to the professional team, he made his debut on the 1st match day of the 2001/02 season of Ligue 1 in the 0-1 defeat against FC Sochaux . He scored his first goal on his 19th birthday on December 22, 2001 in a 3-1 win over Stade Rennes . In January 2004 he was loaned to EA Guingamp , on March 27th he helped Guingamp with his brace against OSC Lille to a 2-1 victory. In the summer of 2005, Camara moved to OGC Nice, his only goal he scored on October 15, 2005, the 11th matchday of Ligue 1 in a 2-2 draw against RC Lens . In the 2007/08 season he was loaned to HSC Montpellier, and they also secured a purchase option which they took advantage of. In 2008/09 he rose from Ligue 2 with Montpellier . After losing in the final of the Coupe de la Ligue , 0: 1 against Olympique Marseille in the 2010/11 season, they won the 2011/12 championship. Camara contributed with nine goals. In the 2012/13 season he was back in the UEFA Champions League after more than nine years, when he made his debut on December 10, 2003 for AS Monaco in a 0-0 draw against AEK Athens . With Montpellier he finished last in Group B with only two points. In the game against FC Schalke 04 he scored his first goal in this competition and saved a point in the 90th minute with a 2-2 draw. The final of the Trophée des Champions was lost to Olympique Lyon on penalties.

National team

Camara made his debut for Senegal at the 2002 World Cup , in the second group game against Denmark , the game ended 1: 1. He took part in the 2006 African Cup of Nations, where Senegal came fourth. Here he also scored his first goal for the national team, on January 31, 2006 in the 1: 2 defeat against Nigeria . He also took part in the 2012 African Cup of Nations, but Senegal was the last to drop out of Group A.
