The FC Sarnen is a Swiss football club based in Sarnen .

history

The FC Sarnen club was founded on February 12, 1933. A year later, it merged with FC Läubli and the first junior team was founded. In 1937, the club could not contest the championship because there was no field available. A year later, the General Assembly decided to resume gaming and the club returned to the championship. The association at that time decided to approve the field for championship games. FC Sarnen came first in the Serie C group and rose. Because of the Second World War , football was stopped all over Switzerland in 1939. The Central Switzerland Football Association was dissolved in 1941 and the clubs joined the Swiss Football and Athletics Association (SFAV). In 1942 the game was resumed despite great difficulties. In 1944, FC Sarnen withdrew its team from the championship due to disputes. In 1945 the club became group champions of the 4th division and the second team was founded.

In 1946, the former President Marcel Paratte died. In 1947 Sarnen was relegated back to the 4th division. In 1948 the senior team was founded and a year later it was disbanded because the team was unwilling to cede a third of their place income to the club. The tournament for the Fresca challenge award was a great success and brought in CHF 356.35 in 1950. In 1954 the first junior team was formed, which competed in the championship under the chairman Otto Amstad. In 1955 Willy Studach resigned as president and Otto Amstad became the new president. The club became group champions, lost the promotion games in the 3rd division. A year later, the club was group champion, but without promotion. In 1957 he again won the group, again without promotion. In 1958 the club celebrated the 25th anniversary of the club with the national league game FC Luzern - FC Cantonal (Neuchâtel). Otto Amstad resigned from the office of president in 1959 in order to take care of the next generation.

The club celebrated its 30th anniversary in 1963 with the game between FC Thun and FC Schaffhausen . In 1964, FC Sarnen dared to play against the Lucerne National League Club. The first team rose to the 2nd division in 1966 and a year later the club was able to sign the successful Hungarian coach Sandor Kutik. In 1969 FC Sarnen was relegated back to the 3rd division. In 1981 the club played 0-4 in the Swiss Cup against SC Kriens . In 1983 the club's 50th anniversary was celebrated and the inauguration of the new clubhouse was celebrated on the football field on this occasion. The new coach was Hans Rottenberger in 1983/84. Shortly after being promoted to the third division, the club made it into the second division. In 1984/85 the former Swiss national player Josef Küttel moved to FC Sarnen and coach Hans Rottenberger left the club. Umberto Foschini took over the first team in 1985/86.

In 1988/89 Manfred Iten became the new club president. For the first time there was an annual calendar with all the teams at FC Sarnen. In 1990/91 Sigi Würsch became the new trainer. A season later, FC Sarnen rose again to the 2nd division. In Peter Schulz scored well the golden goal in extra time to climb. In 1993/94 the first team was relegated to the third division again. In 1994/95 Christoph Lieb became the new club president. In 2008 the association celebrated 75 years. In addition, FC Sarnen played again in the Swiss Cup against Super League club FC Aarau and lost the game 1: 7 in front of 2500 spectators. In 2008/09, Roland Schnyder became a new club president.

Seefeld sports field

FC Sarnen plays its home games on the Seefeld sports field near Lake Sarnen in Sarnen. In 1936 the playing field on the Seefeld was closed by the Central Switzerland Football Association because it was insufficient for association games due to its dimensions. The Hasli football field was badly damaged in August by the Alpine floods in 2005 . The water reached a height of 1.25 meters at the clubhouse and the club restaurant suffered a total loss.
