The 94th Swiss Cup ( Helvetia Swiss Cup ) was held in 2018 and 2019.

mode

Six rounds (1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2 final, final) are played.

Ten clubs from the Super League and nine teams from the Challenge League are directly qualified for the Swiss Cup. In addition, 44 clubs from the Promotion League , 1st League , 2nd League, interregional and amateur leagues have qualified in pre-qualifications and regional eliminations. The last place goes to the Suva Fair Play Trophy winner.

Although FC Vaduz plays in the Challenge League, it takes part in the Liechtenstein Cup and is therefore not eligible to play in the Swiss Cup. In addition, the U-21 teams from the Promotion League are not eligible to play, as are all other reserve teams. If a reserve team has won a regional elimination, the first team will be awarded the starting place in the Swiss Cup, unless the first team is already qualified for the competition. Then the final opponent of the regional elimination receives the starting place.

The Swiss Cup will be played in the knockout system . As a rule, each round is played within two days.

  • 1st round (August 18 and 19, 2018): 64 teams, the winners are qualified for the 1/16 finals.
  • 2nd round (15 and 16 September 2018): 32 teams, the winners are qualified for the round of 16.
  • Round of 16 (October 31 and November 1, 2018): 16 teams, the winners qualify for the quarter-finals.
  • Quarter-finals (February 27 and 28, 2019): 8 teams, the winners are qualified for the semi-finals.
  • Semi-finals (April 23 and 25, 2019): 4 teams, the winners qualify for the final.
  • Final (May 19, 2019) in the Stade de Suisse in Bern  : The winner wins the 94th Swiss Cup.

The cup winner receives the right to start in the group stage of the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League . If the cup winner has already qualified for the UEFA Champions League or its qualifying rounds via the Super League , the third in the Super League final table moves from the qualification to the group phase and the fifth receives the free place in the qualification as an additional participant.
