Eray Ervin Cömert (born February 4, 1998 in Basel ) is a Swiss football player of Turkish descent. His official surname was temporarily Cümart because it was registered in this way when his grandparents, who came from Erzincan in Eastern Anatolia , entered Switzerland. According to other sources, his paternal family comes from Tunceli . The central defender is under contract with FC Basel in the Swiss Super League .
Career

Cömert began his youth career at FC Concordia Basel and switched to the juniors of FC Basel in 2009 . He made his debut for the first team of FC Basel on February 10, 2016 in Letzigrund in a 3-2 away win against FC Zurich . Under coach Urs Fischer , Cömert won the championship title with FCB at the end of the 2015/16 season . For the club it was the seventh title in a row and the 19th title in the club's history.
National team
Cömert had various missions as a central defender with the Swiss U-15, U-16 and U-17 national team. He played his first international match for the U-18 national team on September 22, 2015. The team won 2-1 against Denmark . He played his first international match for the U-19 national team on August 30 as team captain. The team won 1-0 away against Slovak U-19s .
