Pierluigi Tami (born September 12, 1961 in Clusone , Italy ) is a former football player and current football coach. He has both Italian and Swiss citizenship.

Career as a coach

In the summer of 2002, Tami took over the coaching post of FC Lugano after the club was forcibly relegated due to financial difficulties. His involvement ended in spring 2003 when FC Lugano went bankrupt. He was previously active as a player and then in the club's coaching staff.

Tami has had the UEFA Pro license as a coach since June 30, 2003.

Tami looked after the Swiss U-21 national football team . On June 25, 2011, his team finished second at the U-21 European Championships in Denmark. In 2011 he was voted Swiss football coach of the year .

From January 2015 to March 12, 2017 he was a trainer at the Grasshopper Club Zurich . Between June 2017 and April 2018, Tami was again the coach of FC Lugano .
