Shani Tarashaj (born February 7, 1995 in Hausen am Albis ) is a Swiss football player . He is under contract with the Grasshopper Club Zurich . Tarashaj can be used both as an attacking midfielder and as a hanging tip . He is of Kosovar Albanian descent and his family is originally from Prizren in Kosovo .

Tarashaj played at the Grasshopper Club Zurich when he was young ; on the last day of the 2012/13 season he was in the A-team for the first time. He made his league debut on August 2, 2014 in a 0-0 draw against FC Sion , when he came on for Alexander Merkel in the 73rd minute . Another seven months passed before Tarashaj scored his first goal in the league with the equalizer in the 92nd minute in the 2-2 away game against FC Thun . He scored seven goals in the first eleven league games of the 2015/16 season. In January 2016, Tarashaj signed a contract with Everton FC until summer 2020 . He was then loaned to the Grasshopper Club Zurich until summer 2016.

In August 2016 Tarashaj was awarded to the German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt . On October 1, 2016 (6th match day) he made his debut in the 0-1 away defeat against SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga. He scored his first goal in the top German division on October 21, 2016 (8th matchday) in a 3-0 win in the away game against Hamburger SV with the goal to make it 2-0 in the 60th minute. Tarashaj's loan was not renewed at the end of the 2016/17 season. He returned to his current home club Everton FC .

National team

Tarashaj went through all Swiss youth national teams from the U-15 upwards. He played for the Swiss U-21 national team from 2014 to 2015 .

Tarashaj played his first game for the Swiss senior team on March 25, 2016 in a friendly against Ireland . For the European Championships in France in 2016 , Tarashaj was added to the Swiss squad. He came to a brief assignment in the second group game against Romania and thus played for the first time in a competitive game, which means that a change of association is no longer possible. Tarashaj would also have been eligible to play for the Albanian national team.
