Luca John Connell (born April 20, 2001 in Liverpool ) is an Irish football player who is under contract with Celtic Glasgow .

Career

Luca Connell, who was born in Liverpool, England, joined the Bolton Wanderers at the age of 9 . On January 5, 2019, he made his professional debut in a 5-2 home win over FC Walsall in the third round of the English Cup when he came on for Luke Murphy . Three weeks later he was in the four-round game in the starting line-up against Bristol City . In the 2-1 defeat in Bristol Connell prepared the opening goal for the Wanderers through Mark Beevers . A few days later he came for the Wanderers, who were in danger of relegation in the second division, for his championship debut against Reading . By the end of the season he was under Phil Parkinson in nine other league games for use. Bolton rose as the table penultimate in the third division and filed for bankruptcy.

On June 29, 2019, Connell signed a four-year contract with Celtic Glasgow , for which Bolton received a transfer fee.

National team

On February 13, 2018, Connell made his debut for the Irish U-17 national team against Turkey . In May of the same year he took part with the team at the European Championship for this age group in England. He was used twice in the preliminary round. The Irish U-17s were eliminated later in the tournament in the quarter-finals against the eventual winners from the Netherlands on penalties. In November 2018 he played three times in the U-18 . From March 2019 he was used in the U-19 . In May 2019 Conell was appointed to the senior national team for the first time .
