Șinca Nouă [ ˈʃinka ˈnouɘ ] is a municipality in Brașov County , in Transylvania , Romania .
Geographical location
The community Șinca Nouă is located south of the Transylvanian Basin , in the northern foothills of the Făgăraş Mountains (Fogarasch Mountains) . On the upper reaches of the Șercaia - a left tributary of the Olt (Alt) -, on the national road (drum național) DN 73A and on the Brașov – Făgăraş railway line , Șinca Nouă is about 36 kilometers southeast of the city of Făgăraş (Fogarasch) ; the district capital Brașov (Kronstadt) is about 46 kilometers to the east.
history
According to M. Roska, an archaeological find that points to the Early Bronze Age was made on the area of Ortesinca Nouă . The place was first mentioned in a document around 1808. The Habsburg military border ran in 1762 on the area of the village of Paltin , which is now incorporated . In 1956 this scattered settlement was attached to the place Șinca Nouă. In the Kingdom of Hungary , today's municipality was in the chair district of Sárkány (today Șercaia ; Schirkanyen ) in Fogaras County , then in Făgăraș County and, from 1950, in today's Brașov County.
From 1968 to 2002 the places Paltin and Șinca Nouă were administratively assigned to today's municipality Poiana Mărului .
population
In the 1850 census, 1358 people were counted in Șinca Nouă; 1930 the highest number of inhabitants (1789), in 2002 it was 1426. In the scattered settlement Paltin the highest number of inhabitants (226) was counted in 1966. In the community, which is predominantly Romanian , registered 1586 people in 2002. The highest population of Roma (27) was determined in 1966, that of Magyars (24) and Romanian Germans (4) in 1910. In 2011 there were 1690 people in the community. 1645 were Romanians, three were Romanian Germans and the rest did not provide any information about their ethnicity.
The main occupation of the population is agriculture and livestock.

- In Șinca Nouă the wooden church Din Deal , built in 1761, is a listed building.
