Buneşti ( German  Bodendorf , Hungarian Szászbuda ) is a municipality in Transylvania , Romania .

location

The village is located in the Repser Ländchen , a small region on the northwestern border of the Brașov district , named after the city of Rupea ( Reps ).

history

Within the Königsboden , an administrative structure of the Transylvanian Saxons , Bodendorf belonged to the Schäßburg Chair , where it was part of the so-called "Lower Chair".

The place, which was originally shaped by Transylvanian Saxons, has been predominantly Romanians living since the 1960s. After the fall of 1989, the proportion of the German-speaking population fell rapidly.

In 1992, 34 people reported German nationality in the census.

During the second half of the 20th century, Buneşti developed into a large municipality comprising five villages.

Education, economy and social

The community has five kindergartens and five primary schools . The residents of the municipality of Buneşti are mainly involved in animal husbandry , agrotourism , trade, and agriculture and forestry .

The place is located on the European route E 60 , which is important for national and international long-distance traffic and which leads from Sighișoara ( Schäßburg ) to Brașov ( Kronstadt ).

Attractions

The village of Viscri ( Deutsch-Weisskirch ), a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999, is located in the municipality .
