Carlos Miguel Coronel (born December 29, 1996 in Corumbá ) is a Brazilian soccer goalkeeper .
Career
society
Coronel started his career at Red Bull Brasil . At Red Bull Brasil he was a substitute goalkeeper in the São Paulo State Cup several times in the 2013 and 2014 seasons in the first team's squad, but was never used. For the 2015/16 season he moved to Austria for second division club FC Liefering , the farm team of FC Red Bull Salzburg. He made his debut in the second division in July 2015, when he was in the starting line-up against SKN St. Pölten on the second day of the 2015/16 season . In the 2015/16 season he made eleven second division appearances.
In January 2017 he was pulled up into the FC Red Bull Salzburg squad. Coronel was not a single time in the Bundesliga team, but made 24 second division appearances for Liefering. In May 2018 he made his debut for Salzburg in the Bundesliga , when he was used from the start on matchday 36 of the 2017/18 season against FK Austria Wien . The debut was unfortunate for Coronel, he conceded four goals and Salzburg lost the game 4-0. At that point in time, the “cops” were already established as champions. In the 2017/18 season he played a total of one Bundesliga game and 32 in the second division.
After he had played no role at Salzburg in the 2018/19 season, he was awarded to the MLS club Philadelphia Union in January 2019 in the USA . First, however, Coronel played in March 2019 against North Carolina FC for the first time for the farm team Bethlehem Steel in the second-rate USL Championship . In the same month he finally made his debut for Philadelphia in the MLS , when he started against Columbus Crew on the fourth day of the 2019 season.
In July 2019, his loan contract was terminated after four assignments for Philadelphia and eight for Bethlehem and he returned to Salzburg. After Cican Stankovic was injured and substitute goalkeeper Alexander Walke had been injured for a long time, Coronel made his UEFA Champions League debut in October 2019 after substituting for Stankovic against SSC Napoli . In the 2019/20 season he made five appearances in the Bundesliga, one in the ÖFB Cup and three in the Champions League. With Salzburg he won the cup and league double that season.
National team
In April 2013 Coronel took part in the U-17 South American Championship in Argentina with the Brazilian U-17 . However, he was not used during the tournament. With the team he reached third place.
