The four top-ranked teams after the tournament qualified for the U-17 World Cup in 2013 in the United Arab Emirates .
The matches to determine the tournament winner were held in the cities of San Luis and Mendoza . The game was played in two groups of five, followed by a final phase with six teams, also in group mode. The national teams of Argentina , Bolivia , Brazil , Chile , Ecuador , Colombia , Paraguay , Peru , Uruguay and Venezuela took part in the tournament. The U-17 of Argentina emerged from the event as the winner. Places two to four went to the national teams from Venezuela, Brazil and Uruguay.
