Franco Acosta , full name Franco Acosta Machado , (born March 5, 1996 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

The 1.77-meter-tall offensive player Acosta went through all the junior teams of Centro Atlético Fénix . He was in the squad of the Uruguayan first division club at least in the 2013/14 season. During that season, he played there in twelve Primera División games since his debut in 2013 and scored two goals. In June 2014 he was named the best young footballer of the year by the Uruguayan Olympic Committee . In the 2014/15 season he moved to Portugal to Sporting Braga . He signed a five-year contract with the Portuguese. However, after returning to Uruguay to regenerate in September 2014 due to an injury in training at Sporting Braga, he initially continued to play for Fénix and played eight times (one goal) in the top Uruguayan league in the Apertura 2014. In January 2015 he moved to the second team of Villarreal FC . For the Spaniards, Acosta was used seven times (one goal) in the Segunda B in the 2014/15 season . In the 2015/16 season, 18 more league appearances (three goals) were added. He was also placed in the first team at the Emirates Cup in July 2015 . In the 2016/17 season he played for the second substitute in 16 league games and scored two goals.

National team

U-15

Acosta made his debut on September 21, 2011 under coach Alejandro Garay in a 4-1 win in a friendly against Paraguay in the Uruguayan U-15 national team . He made a total of ten international matches in this age group and scored two goals.

U-17

He made his debut in the Uruguayan U-17 team on December 18, 2012 in the 3-0 defeat in the friendly against Paraguay. The coach in charge was Fabián Coito . He took part with the U-17 in the U-17 South American Championship 2013 in Argentina . With the team, he finished fourth in the tournament. He himself was the top scorer of the tournament with eight goals scored before the Venezuelan Andrés Ponce, who was second with seven goals . In October 2013 he was part of the Uruguayan squad at the 2013 U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates . There he reached the quarter-finals with the team and was the most successful shooter within the team with four goals tied with Leandro Otormín . He was used in five World Cup matches. The association statistics show him 14 international goals in 26 appearances in the U-17.

U-20

Acosta has also been a member of the Uruguayan U-20 national team , which is overseen by coach Coito, since March 2014 . In Uruguay's 3-0 victory over Chile on April 15, 2014, he made his debut in the 62nd minute of the game with a substitute for Jaime Báez and scored a goal. He also played in the international matches on May 20, 2014 and May 22, 2014. The opponent was Paraguay.

He was a member of the Uruguayan squad at the U-20 South American Championship 2015 in Uruguay. Up to and including May 28, 2015, he had 22 U-20 internationals and seven goals. He was then one of the selected players to represent Uruguay at the 2015 U-20 World Cup in New Zealand . The "Celeste" were eliminated in the round of 16 after losing on penalties to Brazil. In the tournament he played four games and scored one goal.
