Comité Olímpico Uruguayo
The Comité Olímpico Uruguayo (COU) is the National Olympic Committee in Uruguay .
The COU has stated in its statutes that it is an autonomous and non-profit-making organization. The COU represents the interests of the sport of the state of Uruguay towards the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Organización Deportiva Panamericana (ODEPA) and the Asociación Deportiva Sudamericana (ODESUR).
history
The organization was founded on October 27, 1923. The first chairman was Francisco Ghigliani . For the first time, Uruguay took part in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris with a delegation of 25 athletes.

Bureau
Julio César Maglione has been President of the COU since 1987 . He was last re-elected in 2012 for a term of office until 2016. Since then, the alternate body has consisted of the following Vice-Presidents: First Vice-President Jorge Rosales (fencing), General Secretary Washington Beltrán (swimming), Ignacio Aloise (judo), Gustavo Coll (sailing), Marcello Filipeli (pelota), Julio Lezama (weightlifting) ), Sergio Menéndez (karate), Federico Moreira (cycling), Julio Noveri (handball), treasurer Julio Pérez (volleyball) and Fernando Ucha (rowing).
