Alejandro Garay , full name Alejandro Ricardo Garay Villalba , (born January 17, 1960 in Villa Soriano ) is a Uruguayan football coach .

Career

Garay was the coach of Club Sportivo Cerrito from January to mid-July 2005 . From February 21, 2007 he trained the team of the Peruvian club Total Chalaco for a month . From January 2008 to mid-May 2009 he worked as a coach in the youth field at Danubio FC . Until mid-June 2009, he then temporarily took over responsibility for the professional team of the Montevideo club . He then returned to his previous position by the end of the year. On December 7, 2010, he led the game in Porto Alegre against the team of Gremio Porto Alegre, his debut game as coach of the Uruguayan U-15 national team . In the following years he supervised this selection in 93 games and scored 45 wins, 17 draws and lost 31 games with the "Celeste". He competed with the national team at a total of three South American Championships in this age group. In 2011 he finished fourth with the team. At the tournament two years later in Bolivia they were eliminated in the preliminary round. In 2015 Garay achieved his best result with the U-15 and became vice-South American champion after a final defeat against Brazil, which came about after a 4-5 penalty shoot-out . For a short time he was also responsible for U-16 and U-18 selection teams in the South American state. The U-16s have four wins and four losses. With the U-18 he won three times, played once and lost twice. Since March 2016 he has been the coach of the Uruguayan U-17 national team . With this he scored 14 wins and ten defeats from the first 24 internationals under his aegis.
