The 1999 U-17 South American Football Championship took place in Uruguay in 1999 .

The matches to determine the tournament winner were held in the cities of Maldonado , Rivera and Montevideo . The game was played in two groups of five teams with two subsequent semi-finals as well as the final and the game for third place. The national teams of Argentina , Bolivia , Brazil , Chile , Ecuador , Colombia , Paraguay , Peru , Uruguay and Venezuela took part in the tournamentpart. The U-17s of Brazil emerged victorious from the event with a 5-0 final victory over Paraguay. Places two to four went to the national teams from Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina. The top scorer was the Brazilian Rodrigo de Souza Cardoso with five goals scored .

Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay as the three top-ranked teams after the tournament qualified for the U-17 World Cup in 1999 in New Zealand .
