The 1991 U-17 South American Football Championship took place in Paraguay from May 4, 1991 to May 19, 1991 .

The matches to determine the tournament winner were held in Asunción . The game was played in two groups of five, followed by a final phase with four teams, also in group mode. The national teams of Argentina , Bolivia , Brazil , Chile , Colombia , Ecuador , Paraguay , Peru , Uruguay and Venezuela took part in the tournament. From the event, the U-17 of Brazil emerged as the winner. Places two to four went to the national teams from Uruguay, Argentina and Chile. The top scorer of the tournament was Uruguayan Pérez with eight goals in front of Brazilian Adriano (six goals). Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina qualified for the U-17 World Cup in 1991 in Italy .
