Marcel Toth (born June 14, 1989 ) is an Austrian football player . He plays in the central midfield .
Career
society
Toth began his career at his home club SC Neusiedl am See , where he went through all youth teams. After his talent soon emerged, he moved to the Federal Youth Center Burgenland at the age of 14 , before he returned to Neusiedl at the age of 17 and was accepted into the A-team.
Already in his first season he made his breakthrough as a regular player, before he advanced to the central figure in the game of the new settlers with 9 goals in 27 matches in the 2007/08 season under his father Harald Toth , who was introduced as the new coach at the beginning of the season .
In July 2008 he then moved to the Bundesliga for SK Rapid Vienna , where he signed a contract with a term of three years. At Rapid he should be slowly introduced into the professional game via the amateur team, but this prevented several injury-related failures. After only 16 league appearances in two seasons for the amateur team from Rapid, Toth was then awarded to the newly promoted second division First Vienna FC .
After two years on loan at Vienna, in which he made 36 league appearances, he was finally signed by Rapid in the summer of 2011. In 2012 Toth moved to SV Horn , where he played a total of 72 league games before returning to Vienna in January 2017, which was now playing in the third-tier Regionalliga Ost.
For the 2017/18 season he returned to SV Horn. With Horn he was promoted to the 2nd division at the end of the season. For the 2020/21 season he returned to fourth class Vienna.
National team
From 2006 to 2007 Toth played a total of five times in Austria's U-18 and U-19 national teams.
Others
In addition to his father, who is the coach of his home club SC Neusiedl am See , his brother Daniel is also a professional football player and is currently under contract with the Austrian Bundesliga club FC Admira Wacker Mödling .
