Paul Haag

Paul Haag (born May 20, 1942 in Basel ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( trombone , alphorn )

From 1956 Haag took private trombone lessons and from 1958 belonged to the Basel jazz scene. He first played with the "Savannah Junk Men" and from 1969 was a member of the " Mani Planzer Big Band". Between 1972 and 1978 he worked in the free / fusion band "MAGOG" (with Hans Kennel , Andy Scherrer , Klaus Koenig , Peter Frei and Peter Schmidlin ) , which is known far beyond the country's borders . He then became a member of the “Mellow Brass” band. He can be heard on the alphorn and other natural horns in Hans Kennel's groups “ Alpine Experience ” and “Mytha”. As a trombonist, alphorn player and singer, he toured Central Asia and Mongolia in 2003 with the “Tien Shan Switzerland Express”. Haag also founded the band "Twobones", in which he works with the second trombonist Danilo Moccia, Dado Moroni , Isla Eckinger and Peter Schmidlin and which has released 6 albums so far. In his conventional quintet he plays with saxophonist Roland von Flüe and Heiri Känzig .
