The sextet The Alpine Experience is a "further development" from the Alpine Jazz Herd , a group that was founded jointly by Hans Kennel and the saxophonist and musicologist Jürg Solothurnmann and has been led since 1983.
Although it is heavily influenced by folk music both in its instrumentation and in its works, most of its works can clearly be classified in the jazz field. Since the band's origins are to be found in creative jazz , their music is strongly influenced by improvisation , although it is still danceable music and “an original mixture of Swiss folklore , skilled yodelling and modern jazz influences”. The second of their albums was created with the vocal quartet Geschwister Schönbächler , who are committed to the Muotathaler Jützli , a regional natural yodel .
