Career

He achieved his best final placement in the points in 1963 and 1966, in each of which he finished third. He managed to win the Modified Race of Champions twice. First in 1969 at Langhorne Speedway and then again in 1975 at Trenton Speedway .

Hendrick was also active in the Late Model Sportsman Division, the predecessor of today's Nationwide Series . In this he occupied top 10 positions in the championship standings in 1974 and 1975. In total, Hendrick from Virginia won 700 times in NASCAR appearances. At Martinsville Speedway alone , he managed to finish the race with a win 20 times. So he has more victories on the track than drivers like Richard Petty or Darrell Waltrip .

His striving to be part of modified races anytime and anywhere has resulted in only 17 races in the highest division of NASCAR, today's Sprint Cup , in his entire career . He achieved six top 10 finishes, including two fifth places, one in his hometown of Richmond in 1963 and another in Hampton , Virginia in 1968.
