Hany Abubakr Mukhtar (born March 21, 1995 in Berlin ) is a German football player . He has been under contract in Major League Soccer at Nashville SC since January 1, 2020 .

origin

Mukhtar's father comes from Sudan , his mother is German . He grew up in his native Berlin.

Club career

Mukhtar started playing soccer at FC Stern Marienfelde in 2000 and moved to Hertha BSC's youth department in 2002 . There he played continuously until he won the B-Junior Championship in the final against VfB Stuttgart .

In June 2012 he signed with Hertha BSC for a period of three years and was initially used by the amateurs. In the professional team he made his debut on September 26, 2012 (7th matchday) in a 1-0 victory in the second division home game against Dynamo Dresden , when he came on for Ronny in the 90th minute .

After the first half of the 2014/15 season , in which he was not used in the Bundesliga, Mukhtar terminated his contract with Hertha BSC and signed a contract with Benfica Lisbon that was valid until 2020. He made his debut for the Benfica B team on April 10, 2015 in the game against GD Chaves in the Segunda Liga . On the final day of the match he made his debut in the Primeira Liga when he came on as a substitute for Eduardo Salvio in the 4-1 win against Marítimo Funchal and winning the Portuguese championship in the 75th minute of the game .

On August 28, 2015, Mukhtar moved to the Austrian Bundesliga for FC Red Bull Salzburg on loan until the end of the 2015/16 season . He made his debut for Salzburg two days later in a 3-2 league win against SK Sturm Graz . He scored his first goal in the Bundesliga on October 17, 2015 (matchday 12), when he scored the final score in the 86th minute of an 8-0 home win against FC Admira Wacker Mödling .

For the 2016/17 season , Mukhtar was awarded to Brøndby IF in the Danish Super League . In April 2017 he signed a four-year contract with Brøndby IF after the club had used a purchase option.

On August 27 in 2019 to gave season 2020 new to the North American Major League Soccer playing franchise Nashville SC announced the commitment Mukhtar. He became the first Designated Player in franchise history and stayed with Brøndby IF until the end of the year before moving to the USA on January 1, 2020.

National team

Mukhtar went through all DFB national teams from the U15 onwards .

On July 31, 2014, he became European champion with the U-19 national team . He scored the only goal in the 1-0 win in the final against Portugal . On May 15, 2015 he was nominated for the German U-20 national team . He scored four goals at the U-20 World Cup in New Zealand ; however, the German selection was eliminated in the quarterfinals.

He made his debut in the U-21 national team on November 10, 2016 in a 1-0 win against Turkey in Berlin .
