Ronny Heberson Furtado de Araújo , short Ronny , formerly Tody , (born May 11, 1986 in Fortaleza ) is a former Brazilian soccer player . Between 2010 and 2016 he played for Hertha BSC as a midfielder . During his playing days he was known for his powerful left foot.

Career

Ronny started his professional career in 2004 at SC Corinthians Paulista and played there for three years. When his contract expired in 2005, many top European clubs tried to get the promising talent involved. In transfer poker, Sporting Lisbon was able to prevail against Manchester City , PSV Eindhoven and Paris Saint-Germain .

Since the transfer to Portugal , Ronny has had problems getting into the starting line-up, so that he only made twelve league appearances in the 2006/07 season, although he scored a highly regarded free - kick goal to 1-0 in the 88th minute against Naval 1º de Maio shot in Figueira da Foz . His free kick was measured by Portuguese television at 210.9 km / h, which would make the shot the fastest to date. Metin Tolan , professor for experimental physics at the Technical University of Dortmund , doubts the correctness of this measurement.

In the following years he was unable to establish himself in the starting line-up in Lisbon, which was also due to the fact that Sporting Leandro Grimi from AC Milan had first loaned and then finally transferred, who played in the same position as Ronny. After he had only come to six league appearances in the 2008/09 season, he was loaned to União Leiria .

During the summer break of 2010, Ronny signed a contract with Hertha BSC that ran until 2013. He played there until the end of the 2011/12 season with his brother Raffael , who left Hertha after relegation in 2012. In the 2012/13 season he extended his contract term to 2017. With 18 goals and 14 assists, Ronny played a major role in Hertha’s resurgence in 2013. In the 1st Bundesliga, however, he did not get much advantage. On August 31, 2016, the contract between Ronny and Hertha BSC was terminated because the player no longer played a role in the club's plans. This should give him the opportunity to join a new club after the transfer window has ended.

Ronny was signed by Fortaleza EC for the 2017/18 season . His contract, which was only valid until November 15, 2017, was terminated on November 10, 2017. Then Ronny ended his career as a professional footballer.
