Herbert Ilsanker (born May 24, 1967 in Hallein ) is a former Austrian soccer goalkeeper and currently soccer coach .

Career

Herbert Ilsanker began his career as a goalkeeper at the traditional Tennengau club 1. Halleiner SK . From 1993 he played as a professional for SV Austria Salzburg , but in the successful years of Salzburg only held the post of substitute goalkeeper behind the regular goalkeeper Otto Konrad . However, Ilsanker showed that he had talent as a regular player after being thrown the bottle in the Champions League game between Salzburg Austria and AC Milan , when he came to a number of appearances in the Champions League as a substitute for Konrad. In 1998 Ilsanker moved to 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the second German Bundesliga . After three years in Mainz , but only five games in the second division and one in the DFB Cup due to severe knee injuries, he ended his career as a player in 2001.

Trainer since 2005

Ilsanker has been the goalkeeping coach at FC Red Bull Salzburg since the 2005/06 season , making him the only coach who has been with the club since it was taken over by Red Bull.

Private

Ilsanker is the father of the national soccer player Stefan Ilsanker (* 1989).
