The 1st Halleiner Sportklub was an Austrian football club from the Tennengau district capital Hallein in the state of Salzburg and existed from 1922 to 2004 .

The club played several times in its history in the Tauern and regional leagues and was Salzburg national champion and regional cup winner. In June 2004 the football club was dissolved and the successor club FC Hallein 04 was founded on July 16 of the same year in partnership with the also dissolved city competitor Olympia Hallein . The successor club currently plays in the Salzburg League in the Salzburg Lower House.

History of the 1st Halleiner SK

Founding history

The 1st Hallein Sports Club was founded in the spring of 1922 in the Hallein cellulose factory , which is known today as m-real . The Graz student Haimo Rumpler, who worked in the company, tried to put together an operating team and found a supporter and promoter of this project in Henry W. Davis, then General Manager from England . Davis, after whom a street in Hallein is named today, provided a wood storage area as a playing field for his football-loving employees, had changing rooms built and provided dresses , football boots and goal nets that he imported from his home country. In the spring of 1922, the statutes of the Hallein Athletics Club were submitted to the Hallein District Commission and the club colors were set as red and white . The founding committee consisted of Jaroslaw Hromadka (chairman), Wilhelm Fallwickl (vice chairman), Haimo Rumpler (section head), Josef Schmuck (cashier), Josef Engelsberger (secretary) and Leopold Rusch (kit manager).

Championship entry and first national cup victory

The club entered the championship for the first time in the 1925/26 season and, in its first year in what was then the national class, took fourth place in the table among five clubs. In this context, it is interesting that at that time, SK Vorwärts Hallein , a second football club from the Salinenstadt was already playing in the 2nd Salzburg class. The forward workers' club, founded in 1924, disbanded in 1926. The 1st Halleiner SK withdrew from the league after its premier season and switched to the Workers' Football Association (VAFÖ). After the political upheaval and the ban on workers' clubs, the HSK had to officially cease its gaming operations in 1934. With the founding of the Athletics Club (AC) Hallein and the accession of the officially new club to the Salzburg Football Association, the HSK team continued to play under this name. In the game year 1935/36 the Halleiner fought again for the title of national champion. AC Hallein achieved fourth and last place, but was able to remain in the league due to the small number of football clubs.

In 1936 AC Hallein celebrated its first great success with a 6: 3 triumph over the 1st Salzburg SK 1919 by winning the Salzburg State Cup. In the championship in the following season 1936/37 the Halleiners won third place among five participants and were only beaten by the top teams SV Austria Salzburg and Salzburg AK 1914 . They achieved the same result in the 1937/38 season.

Winning the national championship title

With the new balance of power in the Ostmark , the division in football also changed. The Salzburg clubs now played in a joint league with the strong clubs from Upper Austria and Upper Danube . Completely surprisingly, AC Hallein finished fourth in the table behind Linz ASK , SK Admira Linz and SK Vorwärts Steyr , well ahead of the Salzburg flagship SAK 1914 and Austria Salzburg. With this fourth place, AC Hallein sensationally secured the first Salzburg state championship title. In the 1939/40 season the Salzburg clubs played again in the Salzburg state class. In the following war years, football in Salzburg came to a complete standstill. Even the Salzburg city clubs had to merge into a single football community ( FG Salzburg ) in order to be able to maintain the game with young players and a few established players. After the games in Hallein had to be completely stopped due to the war events, some former officials and players got together in 1945 to re-establish the traditional club under its original name 1. Halleiner SK.

Promotion to the Tauern League as 1st Halleiner SK

After the Second World War , the sports field at Adneter Gries was built and opened in 1948. The 1. Halleiner SK played in the seasons 1945/46 to 1948/49 in the state class Salzburg and qualified with a fourth place in 1949 for the newly founded Tauern League , which was then part of the second level in Austrian football. The Salinenstädter played in this league from 1949/50 to 1953/54 . The game year 1955 closed the Halleiner with a disappointing ninth place in the Salzburg regional class. After two years in this class, the 1st Hallein sports club was able to win the championship title and move up again to the second level, now called the Tauern League North. Here the club finished sixth in the game year 1958/59, but celebrated a great success when they made it to the Salzburg State Cup final, which was lost 5-0 to Austria Salzburg. In 1959/60, the 1st Halleiner SK only narrowly missed qualifying for the newly created second-class Regional League West with fifth place , but made up for this failure in the following season with the championship title in the now Salzburg regional league and the associated promotion to the regional league. After the 1st Halleiner SK had to accept relegation in 1963, they only succeeded in the 1968/69 season.

Lost promotion games to the Bundesliga and the deep fall

With the introduction of a nationwide second level, the regional league temporarily ended. Hallein now played in the third-class Salzburg league, but celebrated winning the title there in 1976 and thus qualified for the promotion games to the 2nd division of the Bundesliga . However, both games against SV Wattens were lost with 0: 3 and 0: 2 and both games against SC Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz with 0: 1 and 1: 6. 1977/78 the Halleiner played in the newly introduced Alpine League , the third level, and occupied only one relegation place with the 13th rank. From 1979 to 1982 the Hallein sports club was still in the fourth-class Salzburg league, until finally, in 1983, when it came down to the second regional league, when it came down to last place. In 1984 the last place was taken here, and there was a further descent to 1st class north. In 1988 he was promoted to the 2nd regional league and in 1991 was promoted to the 1st regional league. From 1992 to 2004 the club played in the 1st regional league. After the end of the 2003/04 season, on June 17th - after 82 years - the 1st Hallein sports club was dissolved and the successor club FC Hallein 04 was founded on July 16th of the same year.

Both made their debut on October 7, 1970, when the Austrians lost 3-1 to Switzerland in Winterthur . While Heidentahler stayed with this single amateur team appointment, Stadler completed two more selection games. Established as SK Vigaun

The Vigaun sports club was founded in 1948 in the Tennengau municipality of Vigaun . The founding members included Johann Brüggler (chairman), Mathias Strasser (deputy), Josef Siller (section head), Florian Fallnhauser (cashier) and Johann Struber (secretary). The first soccer field could be built with the start of the championship in 1948 in Salzburg's 2nd class B on the grounds of the Sager & Wörner gravel works. The area was located in the municipality of Kuchl and first had to be cleared before a venue could be built. The Vigauner was jokingly referred to as the team from the gravel pit . The club colors of the SK Vigaun were blue and white .

In the 1955/56 season, SK Vigaun celebrated the championship title in the fifth class, 2nd class Salzburg and, thanks to a league reform, was able to advance directly to the third Austrian level, the Salzburg regional class. There the club was in ninth place, but was about to dissolve because the lease for its sports facility was not extended. This forced the young club to move to the district capital Hallein. The good contacts with the officials of the 1st Hallein Sports Club enabled the Vigauners to compete on its sports field at Adneter Gries for the time being. Until the next league reform and the associated introduction of the regional league in 1960, the Vigauners stayed in the middle of the table, after which SK Vigaun played in the fourth-class 1st class north.

Emigration to Hallein and renaming

In the early 1960s, the club set up its own sports facility in the Hallein district of Gamp . The new home and the loss of ties to the village of Vigaun led to SK Vigaun being renamed SK Olympia Hallein 1948 in 1963 after lengthy discussions . In the Hallein suburb of Bad Vigaun , a new football club was only established in 2000 with FC Bad Vigaun.

In 1965 he was relegated from 1st class north and by 1967 the march through to the last Salzburg division. In 1969 Olympia Hallein won the championship title in 3rd class and the associated promotion. After nine years, he was again relegated to the 3rd class in 1978 and in 1982 he was promoted again as second in the table behind ASVÖ Liefering . After winning the championship title in the 2nd class North B in 1992, the club played in the 1st class and, as a runner-up, narrowly missed promotion to the second national league. The Olympia Hallein caused a regional sensation with the superior championship title of the 2nd class North B in its last season 2003/04. On June 17, 2004, the SK Emco Olympia Hallein - after 56 years - was dissolved. On July 16, the successor club FC Hallein 04 was founded.
