  • Diving club Delphin Hallein
  • Hallein Mountain Rescue

The football club FC Hallein 04 (formerly 1. Hallein SK ) is based in the Thomas Stangassinger sports facility, which opened in 2014 . This facility consists of a club building including a roofed spectator stand, an artificial turf playing field and a main natural turf square with floodlights. A multi-purpose arena is available for sports such as soccer, basketball and handball.

Two deep wells , which are fed with water from the Osterhorn group, supply Hallein with drinking water. The fountains were built between 1940 and 1975. The operator Reinhaltverband Tennengau Nord specifies a delivery rate of 225 liters per second for both wells. The water from the well is pumped into containers on the Dürrnberg via a pressure pipe .

Well house in Hallein Gamp

In 1928 a hydropower plant was built on the factory premises of The Kellner Partington Paper Pulp Co Limited, Manchester (today AustroCel Hallein GmbH ) . The plant was taken over and modernized by Salzburg AG in 2004 after large parts of it were in need of renovation . The work on the power plant included, among other things, the renovation of the weir system , the construction of new weir pillars and the construction of the power house , accompanied by measures to increase the ecological balance. It is now part of a power plant chain that also includes the Urstein and Sohlstufe Hallein hydropower plants.

Culture and sights

Biotope network on the Gamper Salzachufer

Since the renovation in 2005, numerous renaturation measures have taken place on the left bank of the Salzach in the vicinity of the hydropower plant . It originated among other things

  • a 245 meter long fish ladder
  • a 200 square meter amphibian spawning area and gravel areas for endangered plant species
  • a biotope of the AustroCel Hallein

With the Vigaun railway crossing project , the biotope network was built upstream on the Gamper Salzachufer in 2015 . On an area of almost 3 hectares there are six plastic ponds - surrounded by fringing biotopes - and stepping stone biotopes. In order to prevent the small bodies of water from rapidly silting up (maximum water depth 30 centimeters), a minimum size of 50 square meters was stipulated. A new habitat for animal and plant species was also created through the creation of near-natural forest edges (including black poplar , white willow , bird cherry , sloe ).

An old arm of the Salzach is used by the Hallein fishing association for fish farming as part of a protection and rearing project for grayling .
