The University and State Sports Center Salzburg Rif ( ULSZ Rif ) in the Taxach district of Hallein is a sports facility of the State of Salzburg and the University of Salzburg .

history

In the mid-1980s, planning began for a state sports center. The search for suitable land dragged on. The University of Salzburg, which began operating a sports faculty in the 1960s, was also looking for it during this period. The university did not have its own sports facilities, but resorted to external sports facilities such as school gyms or public swimming pools. The entire range of sports was spread across the city of Salzburg . The idea was born to create a joint sports center - a novelty in Austria at the time. The goal was agreed to meet the requirements of the university and the state equally and at the same time to achieve high utilization of the newly built sports facilities. After two years of construction, the ULSZ Rif was opened in 1986. A wide range of outdoor and indoor sports facilities has been created at a single location , the diversity of the entire range of sports is an essential part of the philosophy and the idea. In addition, the free accessibility of the outdoor facility is a central concept that, on the one hand, reduces the administration and monitoring effort and, on the other hand, ensures a high level of acceptance and high influx from the rapidly growing population in the area. In the years that followed, the ULSZ Rif was gradually adapted to the actual requirements or expanded considerably.
