The FC Puch is an Austrian football club from the Salzburg community Puch bei Hallein .

history

The club was founded on September 6, 1945 as a workers gymnastics and sports club (ATSV) Puch and is in black and white. The later long-time president of Salzburg Austria, Rudolf Quehenberger , also played here. In the 1990s , ASVÖ FC Puch (temporarily also called FC Wüstenrot Puch) served as the satellite club of SV Austria Salzburg and played in the 2nd division of the Bundesliga .

In 1987 ASVÖ FC Puch rose under player- coach Slavko Kovacic for the first time in the Regionalliga West. Kovacic later acted as assistant coach of the Austrian national team under Hans Krankl and in 2005 as co-supervisor of the national team with Willi Ruttensteiner and Andreas Herzog .

After Austria Salzburg was promoted to the Bundesliga in 1990, many young Salzburg players who did not play in the top division came to the Tennengau. The FC Puch was next to the FC Salzburg more and more the second force in the state and in June 1992 the small club celebrated its promotion to the 2nd division of the Bundesliga for the first time. The media presence ensured that the small town near Hallein became known throughout Austria. In 1994 Heribert Weber from Austria Salzburg took up his first coaching position with the “little brother” from Tennengau, where he trained the future national player Robert Ibertsberger . Despite Weber's commitment and many young Salzburg players, FC Puch finally rose again from the second division.

Until the 2016/2017 season, the fighting team played permanently in the Salzburg League and was already an established team in this. This season, however, for the first time in many years, there was a relegation to the 5th performance class in Austrian football, the Salzburg State League.

But just one year after the bitter relegation and a major change in the squad, the team around coach Slavisa Mirkovic returns to Salzburg's highest amateur class in the 2017/2018 season. As third in the table, they secured a direct return to the Salzburg league.
