Slavko Kovačić (born May 14, 1950 in Đurđevac , SFR Yugoslavia , today Croatia ) is a former Yugoslav football player on the position of a striker and today's football coach .
Player career
Kovačić began his football career with NK Graničar Đurđevac and played for Dinamo Zagreb and NK Zagreb in the 1970s and 1980s . In the summer of 1982 he moved to the Austrian Bundesliga for SV Austria Salzburg for the club he scored 17 goals in 67 games. After three years in Salzburg, he moved to FC Puch as a player- coach . Under his leadership, FC Puch was promoted to the third-class Regionalliga West .
Coaching career
After the end of his career, he returned to SV Austria Salzburg as an assistant coach under Hans Krankl . After a short interlude as a trainer for Fortuna Cologne , he was in charge of SC Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz in 2000 . In 2002 he was again assistant coach under Hans Krankl for the Austrian national team . After the end of the Krankl era, Kovačić became assistant coach of the Austrian U-21 national team . In autumn 2006 he became assistant coach of the Albanian national team , where Otto Barić was coach. His last engagement as club coach of KS Flamurtari Vlora ended in 2009.

Slavko Kovačić is married and has two children. His son Luka was also a footballer and played in the Salzburg regional league (4th level in Austrian football).
