The Premyer Liqası 2000/01 was the tenth season of the top football division of Azerbaijan . FK Kimyaçı Sumqayıt withdrew before the start of the season. The championship was therefore held with eleven teams from August 5, 2000 to May 5, 2001. FK Şəmkir prevailed in a playoff against the tied team of Neftçi Baku .
