Tovuz is a city in Azerbaijan . It is the capital of the Tovuz district . The city had around 13,800 inhabitants in 2014.

history

The city was founded in 1912 by German settlers and was named Grubenfeld. During the Second World War , the Germans were expelled under Stalin and the city was renamed Tovuz .

Culture

The Azerbaijani musician Hussein Bozalganli was born in the city. The house where he was born is now a museum. There is also a newly built mosque, a stadium, a city hall and a cinema.

traffic

The Poti – Baku railway line runs through the city and is operated here by Azərbaycan Dövlət Dəmir Yolu , as does the M1 ( European route 60 ). Tovuz is connected to the country's bus network.
