The Premyer Liqası 1997/98 was the seventh edition of the highest soccer division in Azerbaijan . The season was reduced to 14 clubs. The season began on September 14, 1997 and ended in May 1998. Champion was PFK Kəpəz with sixteen points ahead of newly promoted Dinamo Baku. Defending champion Neftçi Baku only finished sixth.

Khazri Buzovna retired after eight games for financial reasons. The Azerbaijani U-18 team took the place.
