The Ligat ha'Al 2000/01 was the second season of the highest Israeli football league under this name, and the 52nd season overall. After 33 rounds, the league was divided into a championship and a playoff group, in which each team competed once against each other. Points reached so far were taken away, but the placement was only within the group.
